Looming overhead were grey clouds, threatening the chance of rain. I swear to you, it could have down poured and Celest and Michael’s excitement would not have been squelched! As fate would have it, not a drop hit the ground during their ceremony or portraits.
Michael arrived at the Ft. Belvoir chapel with his groomsmen in tow before his breathtaking bride. His excitement was pouring off of him; he could have uplifted a room of the saddest people with his excitement to see and marry his beloved Celest.
As he and the groomsmen escorted special family members and friends to their pews, the ladies arrived via limo out front. Celest and her father remained in the limo until the official walk-down-the-aisle.
At the start, Michael’s dear mother could barely keep her emotions in as she beheld her son standing at the altar, waiting to glimpse his bride.
Keeping the ceremony short and sweet, centered still on God and the binding ties of the Spirit and marriage, Celest and Michael were greeted by their friends and family outside the chapel with bubbles. As the couple received their guests before they grabbed their bubbles, those who waited outside decided it was time to practice their bubble skills!
The guests made their way to cocktail hour back at the Officer’s Club while Celest, Michael and their bridesmaids and groomsmen stayed out with me in the beautiful front lawn of the Officer’s Club for their formal and fun bridal party photos. Michael and his gang were all about “the mean mug”, so you’ll see plenty of that in the guy’s photos!
A limo was supposed to take Celest, Michael and me to a field they handpicked for their portraits, but with time running out and their limo not to be found, their amazing wedding planner handed her car keys over to me. Away we went!
Every wise bride has basic touch up make up in her clutch for moments such as these! Michael was at the ready with his phone to assist Celest for a quick re-application of her lipstick.
We took the time to make sure they had individual portraits as well as the sweet and tender bride and groom portraits. Celest was exactly as you envision a beautiful bride to be: classic, gorgeous, and together. Her smile was always feminine and soft, but there was no match to the smile Michael could put on her face!
Some of my favorite portraits end up being incredibly non-traditional; when the groom or the bride see their new spouse. Their eyes light in a way no other person could possibly invoke, and their smiles are unique to their love with one another.
When I say their reception was non-stop fun, I mean it was non-stop fun!! From introductions to the dollar dance, there was not a dull moment in the evening. No one even noticed the torrential downpour happening outside the Officer’s Club.
By now you may be trying to figure out what Michael Kors and Sperry have to do with Celest and Michael getting married. As they told me the story of how they met (one of my favorite parts of consults!), they kept looking at each other recalling that exciting time.
At the time, Celest worked at Michael Kors and Michael and Sperry. On a break he went window shopping for a watch and came across Celest. A break turned into finding their soul mates. Hints of Michael Kors and Sperry speckled the speeches and toasts as well as some of their good friends they invited along for the celebration.
Now that is how you drop money in for the Dollar Dance!
Their DJ’s were outstanding, guys. Seriously, they made sure there was participation, dancing, laughter, and constant motion on the dance floor. Check them out at the bottom of this post with the rest of their freaking awesome vendors (shout out to Tiffany, their wedding planner, who was on it all day!)
After everyone had their turn dancing with Celest and Michael, Michael took over the mic. You can’t deny a groom his request for everyone to get on the dance floor and celebrate, can you? With a crowd of friends and excited family members, I’m pretty sure that dance floor didn’t see the feet of every person there.
Massive congrats, Celest and Michael! Your vibrant and enthusiastic love for one another shone brightly all throughout the day and evening!
