I’m throwin’ it back to just a smidge over a year ago. My friend Brooke asked me to second for her for this Morgantown, WV wedding taking place at Lakeview Resort. For only Brooke would I drive four hours one way to stand by her side and capture a wedding. Love you, friend!
As the second’s typical duties, I started off shaking hands with the groom, Josh, and learning a little about their day. Usually after a few minutes of documenting total candids, I can get a real sense for how the groom is feeling, how open he is to posed shots, etc. Josh was very nice, but there was no hiding that the guy had some major Day Of Nerves happening. Seeing that he was a little nervous the closer the clock ticked to the start of his ceremony, I backed off and let him and his buddies do their thing.
His friends easily took over as supporters, played their favorite music and did lots of silly poses together. They were helping Josh as he got ready, and there were encouraging words (also amidst many jokes).
This gorgeous venue, Top Pick by The Knot and Wedding Wire, is tucked away with a phenomenal mountain view. One of the stunning features of this venue is the hole with the mountain and lake view. It’s breath taking!
This city girl got super nervous on her four hour drive from Bristow to Morgantown. I won’t lie, there may have been a panic attack or two as I drove through the sloping mountains. Mountains are a magnificent sight to behold, but driving through them gets my nerves in a bind! Once I saw that breath taking view, I knew how worth it it was.
Not to mention… guys… THE SUNSET!! Unfortunately I was driving while the sun was setting and I couldn’t (safely…) grab a photo, but even today I remember that sunset was like something out of a dream.
Thank you Brooke!
