The morning of Julie + Joe’s wedding was dark, gloomy and raining. As I arrived at the church, the church was dark grey and the rain fell hard in big droplets. The weather had forecasted rain, but of course, you hope for that pocket of time when the sky lets up and you can run outside for portraits because, hey, outdoor portraits rock.
Thankfully the rain stopped, but what was even better was the sky. Do you see that sky behind them!? With the beautiful golf course and country club backdrop from Westwood in Vienna and that amazing sky with stormy clouds… I’m sorry, but that is just gorgeousness!
We started off in the intimate Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Falls Church, Virginia. An incredibly talented friend sang after the gorgeous bride walked down the aisle, and a sweet ceremony with communion took place. I loved taking shots up from the balcony. One of my favorite things to do during the ceremony is watch the faces of those present. On the bottom right you can see a grandfather smitten with the moment 🙂
Seriously, look at that SKY! I loved the colors she chose — hints of blush everywhere. A very romantic and delicate touch.
How endearing to watch the Matron of Honor going over her heartfelt speech moments before it was her time in the spotlight.
There were heartfelt speeches and funny ones, and most of all there was lots of dancing for everyone!
This little guy couldn’t stay awake during the ceremony, but I’m pretty sure after their exciting reception dancing all night, most of the adults felt this way too 🙂
