A few weekends ago I was able to photograph the Jewish Primary Day School – Nation’s Capitol (JPDS-NC) Purim Ball fundraiser at none other than the National Press Club.
Purim is a celebration for the Jewish community to commemorate when the Jewish people were saved from murder and annihilation from Haman as recorded in the book of Esther.
JPDS-NC held a silent auction before the fundraising event. Many people walked by bidding on their smart phones on an array of fantastic items donated by many people around the DMV.
There were so many friendly and smiling faces. Everyone had a fantastic time, and it goes without saying that their event coordinator, Vered, did a phenomenal job of putting together this event.
Not everyone dressed up for Purim, but a handful of the folks who did were more than happy to strike a pose for the camera.
Kinney Zalesne presented the awards and the other honoree’s throughout the evening.
In between speakers, the fundraising began for the JPDS-NC. It was great to watch people give with such joy to a cause so close to their hearts.
Cards were placed on each table to allow attendee’s to donate towards JPDS-NC. For those who wished, they could donate anonymously or in any amount they felt compelled to give. The lovely ladies from earlier helped retrieve all the donations and bring them up front as the crowd got an updated total.
Of those recognized, one of them was David Zimand.

Each speaker brought a unique personality to the podium. This pair, Laurie Moskowitz and Steve Rabinowitz, gave everyone a good laugh!
Left, Laurie Brumberg closes the evening as the last honoree with a heartfelt speech.
It was a beautifully organized event, full of people with big hearts and smiles.
